Metal chip briquetting machine is a hydraulic metal recycling machine designed to compress loose metal chips, metal powder, and granular metal waste into high-density cylindrical briquettes. It is widely used in aluminum profile factories, steel foundries, aluminum casting plants, copper casting plants, and metal processing industries.
During machining and casting processes, a large amount of metal waste such as iron chips, copper chips, aluminum chips, stainless steel chips, and metal powder is generated. These loose materials usually have a large volume, making storage, transportation, and recycling difficult. The metal chip briquetting machine uses high-pressure hydraulic force to cold press these metal scraps into compact briquettes without heating, additives, or additional processing.
The finished metal briquettes usually weigh 3–6 kg per piece, with high density and uniform shape, making them convenient for transportation, storage, and direct furnace charging. By reducing oxidation loss and improving melting efficiency, this machine helps factories increase the recycling value of metal waste.
Raw Materials for Metal Chip Briquetting Machine
The metal briquetting machine can process various types of metal waste generated from machining and casting industries, including:
Metal Chips
- Iron chips
- Steel chips
- Stainless steel chips
- Aluminum chips
- Copper chips
- Cast iron chips
- Brass chips
Metal Powders
- Iron powder
- Aluminum powder
- Copper powder
- Lead powder
- Other metal particles and fine scraps
The machine is especially suitable for factories that produce large amounts of metal scraps during CNC machining, turning, milling, drilling, and casting operations.
What Do the Finished Metal Briquettes Look Like?
The products after compression are usually:
- Cylindrical metal briquettes (Metal Briquettes / Metal Pucks)
- High-density metal blocks
- Compact metal materials suitable for furnace charging
For example:
- Aluminum chips → Aluminum briquettes
- Copper chips → Copper briquettes
- Iron chips → Iron briquettes
These finished metal briquettes can be directly transported to foundries or smelting plants for recycling and reuse.

How Does a Metal Chips Briquetting Machine Work?
The metal chip briquetting machine adopts a hydraulic compression system to compact loose metal materials into dense briquettes.
The working process includes:
1. Feeding
Loose metal chips or metal powder are loaded into the large hopper above the feeding cylinder.
2. Material Feeding and Positioning
The feeding cylinder pushes the material into the compression chamber and automatically returns to its original position.
3. Hydraulic Compression
The main hydraulic cylinder drives the pressing head downward. When the punch enters the mold cavity, the hydraulic system increases pressure and compresses the metal chips into a dense cylindrical briquette.
During compression, the machine maintains pressure for a certain time to ensure the briquette has sufficient density and strength.
4. Briquette Ejection
After pressing, the auxiliary cylinder moves the mold block backward, and the main cylinder pushes the finished metal briquette out of the mold.
The system then automatically resets and starts the next compression cycle.
The entire process is a cold pressing process, which does not require heating, binding agents, or other chemical additives.

Types of Metal Chip Briquetting Machine
To meet the different metal recycling requirements of our customers, we provide two types of metal chip briquetter:
- Vertical Hydraulic Metal Chip Briquetting Machine
- Box-Type Metal Briquetting Machine
Our professional team will evaluate the following factors:
- Type of metal waste
- Raw material characteristics (oil content, particle size, density, etc.)
- Required production capacity
- Metal briquette size requirements
- Available installation space
- Final recycling purpose
Based on these factors, we provide customized metal briquetting solutions to help customers achieve more efficient metal recycling.
Whether you need to process aluminum chips generated from aluminum profile production, steel chips from machining factories, copper scraps from copper processing plants, or various metal wastes from foundries, we can provide suitable equipment to improve recycling efficiency and reduce material loss.

Advantages of Metal Chip Briquetting Machine
Reduce Metal Waste Volume
Metal chips are usually loose and difficult to transport. After compression, the volume is greatly reduced, saving storage space and transportation costs.
Improve Metal Recycling Value
The compressed metal briquettes are easy to collect, transport, and sell. They can be directly used as furnace charging materials, improving recycling efficiency.
Reduce Melting Loss
Loose metal chips have a large surface area and are easily oxidized during melting. Compressing them into briquettes reduces oxidation and material loss, helping factories save raw materials.
No Heating or Additives Required
The machine uses hydraulic cold pressing technology. The entire process requires:
- No heating
- No chemical additives
- No additional processing steps
This makes operation simple and environmentally friendly.
High-Density Metal Briquettes
After compression, cast iron chips and steel chips can reach a density of approximately 2–6 T/m³, depending on material characteristics and machine configuration.

What Is the Difference Between a Metal Briquetting Press and a Metal Baler?
Many customers may confuse these two types of metal recycling equipment. The main differences are as follows:
| Item | Metal Chip Briquetting Machine | Metal Baler |
| Raw Materials | Metal chips, metal powder, and granular metal waste | Large metal scraps such as scrap steel, steel sheets, metal cans, and bulky waste |
| Finished Products | Small high-density cylindrical metal briquettes | Square or rectangular compressed metal bales |
| Compression Method | Hydraulic compression | Hydraulic baling |
| Main Application | Recycling metal chips generated from machining processes | Compressing and transporting large scrap metals |
In simple terms:
- Aluminum chips and copper chips generated from lathes or machining processes → Metal Chip Briquetting Machine
- Waste steel plates, car bodies, and large scrap iron → Metal Baler
